Ribbon Santa

Ribbon Santa Supplies:

Instructions:
Holding ribbon right side up, place into bow maker between dowels measuring end out 9". Twist 1/2 turn at dowels. Measure 9" again - fold back and make loop. Place between dowels and twist 1/2 turn. Repeat this process until there are 3 loops on each side. (4 or 5 loops makes fuller robe.) Pull loops gently forward. This is the robe of the Santa. Continue looping ribbon in the same manner, measuring first a 5 1/2" loop on each side, then a 4" loop on each side and a 3" loop on each side. Pull remaining ribbon to same length as robe loops and cut off. Holding hand over ribbon, thumb and first finger on each side by dowels, gently pull ribbon loops up and out of bow maker. Place center of chenille stem over center mark of loops. Pill tight and twist 2 or 3 times to secure. Shape long loops down for robe and smaller loops across for shoulder and sleeve look. Attach porcelain head over center of ribbon with E6000 or cool bonder. Hold in place, pressing ribbon up into head tightly. Hold until set, then let dry completely. With 1/2 yd. ribbon, drape around neck and down front, gluing to back of porcelain bust across back edge. Tie with cording or narrow ribbon around waist. Cut piece of ribbon and form cone shape for hat. Measure to fit head. Hot glue edges of hat to secure the shape. Glue to head using E6000 or Cool Bonder. Bend down paint of hat to square off top and hot glue into position. Position hands into side of longest shoulder loop and glue.

Notes: Decorations may be added to hands i.e. sticks, sack, packages, etc. Larger Santa can be made by using larger head and hands and making longer robe loops and increasing number of robe loops on each side to 5. Be sure to allow at least 3 extra yards of material for this adjustment.
