Ribbon Poinsettia

Instructions:
For the large size, cut the 2 1/2 yds. ribbon into nine 10” pieces. For medium, cut the 2 yds. into nine 8” pieces. For the small, cut the 1 1/3 yds. into eight 6” pieces. Fold each piece in half across the width of ribbon. Fold each end down to bottom wire edges, forming triangles on the ends. Run basting stitch from one pointed end up and across top and down to opposite end. Gather thread, forming ribbon piece into pod shape gathering more in middle section and leaving smoother at ends. Open unstitched edges of ribbon to from petals and shape. Sew the ends of 5 petals together using a running stitch. Pull thread til only a small hole remains in center for stamens and secure thread. Out of 4” square of fabric, cut circle to fit behind petals. Using the same method, sew the 3 or 4 remaining petals together and sew on top of first layer of petals. Wrap stamens together with thread. Push through center hole and sew in place. Poinsettia can be used on packages, garlands, wreaths, for table settings, etc.
