Instructions for All Ornaments:
Trace the patterns from the patterns on the back of the project
sheet and cut from felt. Use the chalk pencil to transfer lines
(chain stitches) and dots (French knots) for the embroidery details.
Refer to the Stitch Chart on the back to work all embroidery stitches using the pearl cotton.
Instructions for the Stocking:
Center and pin the stocking to one of the cranberry base pieces 1 ¼ inches from the top edge. Sew a blue running stitch around the stocking edges. Work ¼-inch wheat chain stitches along the chalk lines, working from top to bottom. Work cranberry French knots as indicated. Pin the cuff in place, overlapping the top stocking edge. Work cranberry blanket stitches around the entire cuff; repeat to stitch the heel and toe sections in place.
With wrong sides facing, align the stitched and unstitched bases. Work cranberry blanket stitches around the edges; stuff lightly with fiberfill before closing.
To make the hanger, cut 1 yard of cranberry pearl cotton; fold in half. Hold the cut ends in one hand and the loop end in the other; twist until it begins to twist upon itself. Bring the ends together; knot and trim to ½ inch. Knot the other end 7 inches from the first knot; trim to ½ inch. Tack stitch one knot to each upper front corner of the ornament.
Instructions for the Star:
Center and pin the cranberry star on the denim star. Sew a cranberry running stitch around the edges of the cranberry star. Work ¼-inch blue chain stitches along the marked lines, working from top to bottom. Work wheat French knots as indicated. Center the stars on one of the wheat base pieces. Work blue blanket stitches around the star edges to secure.
Using wheat pearl cotton, follow “Stocking” steps 2 to assemble the ornament and 3 to make the hanger.
Instructions for the Heart:
Center and pin the cranberry heart on the wheat heart. Sew a cranberry running stitch around the edges of the cranberry star. Work ¼-inch cranberry chain stitches along the marked lines, working from top to bottom. Center the hearts on one of the denim base pieces. Work wheat blanket stitches around the heart edges to secure. Work blue French knots as indicated.
Using blue pearl cotton, follow “Stocking” steps 2 to assemble the ornament and 3 to make the hanger.
