Begin by kneading a small piece
of clay and rolling it into a ball.
Flatten it out into a circle. Make
sure that the circle 3/4 cm thick
because this will be the base of
the pot.
Make several small “snakes” of clay.
Wrap the base with one of the snakes and blend the clay
together so that there are no holes between the pieces.
Continue adding snakes (make sure that each layer is blended together well) until desired height is achieved.
Finish the pot by making the final layer a lip. This can be done by simply pinching the last layer all around.
Allow clay to dry.
Project Idea:
This project can be incorporated into course work with the studies of Native American pottery,
sedimentary stones, and botany by planting a seed inside of the finished project!
