Freaky Frank

Freaky Frank Supplies:
  • 1 small rectangular paper maché box
  • 2 (10mm) wiggle eyes
  • 2 (1 1/2”x5/8”) wooden spools
  • ¼” wooden button (for the nose)
  • Acrylic paint: Gleams-Metallic Silver, Cinnamon, Jubilee Green, Tompte Red, Black, White, Lime Green, & Purple
  • Brushes: #1 liner brush, #10 flat brush, #3 round brush and #6 or #8 flat (old is best)

Instructions:

  1. Base coat the paper maché box Jubilee Green. Once dry, paint on another coat of the same color. Let dry.
  2. Dip a dry brush (#6 or #8) into Lime Green paint. Work off MOST of the excess paint. Now make crisscross (X) marks all over the box.
  3. Using a dry brush, paint Tompte Red & Cinnamon cheeks. This method works best if the brush moves in a circular motion, beginning in the center and working its way out.
  4. Use a #3 round brush and Black paint to paint Frank’s hair. Make uneven/scraggly strokes. Start painting at the top and work downward. Add some funky highlights by repeating this step with Purple. Note: The hair should go all the way around the box.
  5. Paint 2 wooden spools silver and glue one to either side of the box. Refer to Fig. 1 for embellishments
  6. Glue on wiggle eyes.
