Tea Towel Tote

Tea Towel Tote Supplies:
  • One dish towel
  • One 6” heart doily
  • Choice of 3 buttons
  • Fabric scraps or pre-made yo-yos
  • Fabric glue - (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Lay towel flat. Measure across width of the towel and cut 14 inches, tote body should now be 14” x 27” (save excess for making straps).
  2. Fold fabric right sides together. Stitch from fold to top edge on both sides, do not sew across top.
  3. Out of excess material, measure and cut two handles 2” by length of the towel (27”).
  4. For each handle fold right sides together length wise, width should now be about 1”.
  5. Sew down length of handle. Turn handles right side out (handles should now look like tubes of fabric).
  6. Sew handles to inside front and inside back of tote.
  7. Stitch doily to tote.
  8. If you don’t have pre-made yo-yos, from fabric scraps, cut 3” to 4” circles. Gather along edge and pull in gathers to form yo-yo. Make 3 yo-yos.
  9. Glue, or sew buttons to the center of each yo-yo.
