Instructions for Uncle Sam Hat:
Cut blue fun foam to cover the upper brim of the visor. Glue it to the visor. Cut one white fun foam sheet to 7”x12” size. Glue it around the visor, along the brim, so that it stands upward. Cut the second white sheet to a 5 1/2”x10” sheet. Glue 2” of each end of the 5 1/2”x10” sheet to the upper half of the 7”x12” sheet so that it creates a cylinder (with a 2”x6” opening at the bottom). Cut and glue 2” wide strips of red fun foam around the white foam to create a red and white striped hat. With the scrap white foam, cut out stars, and glue them to the blue portion of the hat.
Instructions for Star Spangled Hat:
Cut the red fun foam into two 2 1/2”x12” strips. Glue 2” of one strip to the other. Measure your child’s head with the 22” band. If the band is able to go around your child’s entire head, remove the band from your child’s head, and glue the ends to fit your child’s head. If the band is too short, cut a slit 1” from the end of each end, and tie a piece of ribbon through each slit so that your child can tie the band around his or her head. Cut 2 1/2”x1” strip of white fun foam and glue them (evenly spaced) around the red band. Cut 3 pipe cleaners in half. Glue the pipe cleaners to the inside portion of the hat, evenly spaced and alternating from long and short. Cut out 12 white stars, and glue them to the ends of the pipe cleaners.
