Terra Cotta, Ceramic, Wood, Rocks and Tile
Supplies:
- Patio Paint
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Scrub Brush
- Foam Brush
- Bristle Brush
Cleaning Instructions:
- Make sure desired surface is clean. Wash concrete or similar material with soap and water using a scrub brush. Rinse well and let dry.
- Stepping stones and similar items should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol to remove casting residue.
- Patio paint is waterproof and fade resistant. There is no need to varnish your project after painting. If you are using wood, a basecoat of Patio Paint will seal your piece.
Techniques
Opaque Coverage:
- Use a Foam brush to apply an even coat of patio Paint on smooth surfaces such as wood or terra cotta.
- For rough surfaces such as concrete, use a bristle brush.
- Use long smooth strokes to work the paint down into any rough areas of the surface. It may take more than one coat to cover the surface.
Decorative Painting:
Patio paints are acrylic paints so you can blend, shade, or even use stencils.
Antiquing:
- Allow base coat to dry thoroughly.
- Brush contrasting color over first, making sure the paint works into crevices.
- Wipe off excess with a soft cloth. For best results, mix 2 parts paint with 1 part water.
